On 23 May 2016, the unique modular NEST experimental building was officially opened by Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann on the Dübendorf campus of the Empa and Eawag research institutes. The aim of the project is to accelerate the innovation process in the building and energy segments by enabling research, industry and the public sector to co-develop sustainable technologies, materials and systems and test them under real-world conditions.

To coincide with the opening of the central backbone of the building, the first two modules are now also ready. Meet2Create is an office environment designed by the Engineering & Architecture Department at the University of Lucerne with the aim of gaining insights into the working world of the future. Lenzlinger is participating here as the expert partner in the area of flexible floor systems. The company will be collaborating in the study of topics such as flexible furnishing, customizable climate control at the workplace and passive building technologies in meeting rooms.
